It's the dude that makes up the addiction: on Internet addiction and susceptible personalities

So we did this exercise in class on Internet addictions. In the case of my group, we were supposed to analyse the makeup of an Internet addict's personality and classify their character profiles according to the types of Internet addictions there are. Here's what we found:


1) If you have pornographic/ cybersexual addiction, you are more likely to be:

• male (duh)
• have an untreated sexual dysfunction (????)
• be uncomfortable in romantic relationships/ interacting with whichever gender you prefer, i.e. romantically awkward
• or maybe when it comes to the real deal, you're just stone cold (have seen anime geeks abusing real-life ladies on forums; about how they're uglier/ fatter/ less sweet compared to those waif-like 2D idols)

2) If you have an addiction to interactive online applications, you could be:

• shy and socially inept. You get easily anxious in face-to-face interactions; may be a loner or a wallflower.
• low in self-esteem. Again, the above.
• wanting to be someone else. 

3) If you're addicted to online gaming/ shopping/ gambling etc., you might be:

• easily bored and have no other hobbies
• sick of your life (that's sad :( )
